REFLECTIONS

Throughout this entire module, I think I’ve really learned a lot and I'm actually glad that I’ve chosen my topic. It has actually helped me gain much more insights about design elements and principles in building brand identity, which was really useful when I was doing my brand corporate identity module this semester. It gave me an additional opportunity to do more research about the topic and gave me more sensitivity, taking more considerations while doing my BCI projects as well.

But aside from gaining knowledge from my research topic, I think the most challenging and exciting part of this module is the ability to think critically. It has taught me to assimilate information and draw connections between ideas and concepts. I think learning to think critically is not only important in writing but also in how we process our thoughts, make logical decisions and rationalize them. Besides, writing this dissertation also taught me how to think more in-depth. I find myself constantly questioning my decisions and what I’ve written, trying to make sure that the arguments I’ve made are logically inclined with all the existing evidence and connected at the same time.

My biggest weakness would be being too wordy or repetitive and unable to clarify or explain what’s in my head in words sometimes; which takes up quite a lot of time trying to construct them into sentences. While doing this module, it made me realize that language and knowledge are very important regardless of what field I’m in. It once again reminds me that words are such powerful tool to convey my thoughts, ideas and to build an effective argument.

I would also like to thank Dr Jinchi throughout the whole process as well. The way she is able to point out the gaps in my research, giving constructive feedback and suggestions were really helpful in the entire learning process as well. She is able to construct and articulate her thoughts, ideas and explanations very well which I look up to and I aspire to do the same as well.
