TASK 1: PROJECT PROPOSAL

Week 1
This week, we were briefed about the expectation of this module

Project Brief
Create an innovative SDG vision shaped by current design trends and emerging creative technology with “playfulness” at the heart of the experience. Think of creating design and content that creates awareness, educates your audience and triggers reaction.

The 12 chosen SDG goals for this project are:
  • No Poverty
  • Zero Hunger
  • Good Health and Well-being
  • Quality Education
  • Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Affordable and Clean Energy
  • Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Climate Action
  • Life Below Water
  • Life on Land

For my project, I've decided to go for the topic: Good Health and Well-being. I've also decided on which topic specifically I would like to talk about which is Relaxation-Induced Anxiety.

Week 2

This week, we will need to present our ideas to Ms Anis. Hence, I prepare a slide with my ideas in it to show her better about the direction I'm going for.

Week 5
This week is our project proposal, we have to present our ideas in class.

PROPOSAL:

Besides, I also came up with a simple animated storyboard to show my idea clearer for my project proposal.

TASK 2: PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Before I start illustrating, I went on Adobe Audition to remove the background noice from my audios. I've also changed the pitch of my voice so that it suits my character more.

Previously during my proposal, I've did some rough sketches for my animated storyboard. I used the sketches in

I then proceed to illustrating my sketches using adobe illustrator.

Then, I layered and labelled all my layers before importing to Adobe after effects to edit my video. Besides, I also explored different effects to apply for my animation.

Besides, I also applied some effects after watching some tutorials on YouTube.

Since animation is not my strongest suit and I think having social media to increase exposure for video leads would be a more cohesive strategy, I moved on to design a few social media posts.

FEEDBACK

Week 2
Ms Anis said my topic is interesting but she commented about an event to connect people who are going through anxiety might not be the best solution for the project I'm doing. She suggested an animation video instead.

Week 3
No feedback given

Week 4
Ms said that the eyes of my character design capture the character and the topic nicely; she commented that she imagine there's going to be lots of intense close up (because of my topic).

Week 5
Ms said my presentation is on point and direct. She did not raise any concerns about my proposal.

Week 14
Ms mentioned that my animation video is good, especially for someone who's with not much experience with it. She also added that my solution was good to address the challenges I faced, which is coming up with a whole character branding instead of only creating one video, since my message my not be coherent enough to educate people about the topic.

REFLECTION

Experience:
Throughout this entire project, I'd say I struggled quite a bit with the illustration part at the beginning, since my sketches at the beginning were quite rough just to show my ideas, I forgot the most important part which is to do some visual research about the settings, props. If I were to restart the project again, I would like to remind myself to do that.

Observation:
I observe that for character design on the internet that has been performing really well, they don't necessarily have the most stunning visuals. But the subtleness in their character's vibe, expressions and most importantly content that are relatable is the key from grabbing their viewer's attention.

Findings:
I realised that it is so important to reflect about your work even after you have done to see whether or not the outcome done is sufficient to meet up with the objectives. Besides, it's also important to have the critical thinking and creativity to come up with a solution to compliment what's already done.
