PROCESS

Spark AR Filter
At the beginning of this project, I started off by watching some youtube videos to get some filters I would like to do for my ice cream brand.

I decided to explore the this or that filter for users to choose their preferred ice cream flavour. I also planned to do one more filter which allows user to change backgrounds.

The following videos are some tutorial which I find really helpful:

Before I start working on the it, I started to create the graphics first using Adobe Illustrator.

Lastly, I created a simple filter cover to be used as the thumbnail.

I then started working on Spark AR, after watching some tutorials. This filter is fairly easy and does not require much planning and thinking since there is no trigger to this effect.

I then started off by creating the ice cream graphics by using Photoshop with the ice cream logo and save it in a folder.

I used Illustrator to create the ice cream pint card graphics to be used later on for the filter.

I also created a simple filter cover to be used as the thumbnail.

This filter was honestly much more challenging and there are many steps to follow to make it work. Since the tutorial only teaches how to swipe left and right I had to figure out on my own how to trigger the "A massive ice cream lover" graphic at the end by using the Spark AR logic and testing it out which took me quite a long time.

Microsite Animation

For the microsite animation, I started off by planning the freamework. However, I misunderstood the assignment at first and thought we had to create a website. However, I soon realized that animating an entire website requires a lot more time and we were not told to do so as well.

I then started off by coming up with another framework which is more achievable. I used Baskin Robin's microsite as an example for the microsite content.

After getting all the graphics ready, I started animating on Adobe CC. My microsite consists of 5 pages which are the about page, programme, home, store location, our app and contact us. This microsite allows user to join the programme and learn more about the brand and contact the brand.

REFLECTION

Experience:
Throughout this final project, it was less hectic and tough compared to the first project because of the experience and basic knowledge we got from Project 1. However, I did not receive feedbacks from sir because I was struggling to cope with my mental and physical health and just decided to try my best and complete the work. Though I have received constructive feedback from sir on Project 1, I did not have the capacity to make changes to improve upon it.

Observation:
I observe that there are many tutorials out there but understanding the basic logic for Spark ar filter is also important because sometimes you just can' find the solution through these tutorial and need to figure out on your own. I also observe that consistency in a certain way is still important in animation to give off the same feeling and not be confusing at the same time.

Findings:
I realized that things are hard before they are easy; at least that's what I felt. At the beginning it was really quite daunting and took so long to figure something out, rewatched the tutorial so many times yet having trouble to follow. But just like sir said, the more you do it the easier you get which makes me feel less anxious knowing that I  have done it before and I have the knowledge to do it. Trying something new always feel hard for me but knowing that I'm able to get through it does make me think that I should have more courage to try exploring something new and I will still be able to get through it.
