PROCESS

Initially, we have distributed the work and Yumnu was supposed to do the social media posts for instagram. Since she was struggling and the brand's identity couldn't be represented well through the posts, I had to take over and helped out.

This was the initial attempt done by her. The colour palette that she was using doesn't really brings out the brand essence; the colours were too serious, dull and the layout that we proposed initially weren't working as well because it looks very rigid and stiff, which doesn't fit the brand's identity.

After giving her some feedback, she changed the colours and use of some elements. Even though it looks a lot more approachable, it still doesn't bring out the feels that we have proposed.

I then took over and started creating the posts in the form of 9 in grids to have a better picture on how it will look like together when presented on Instagram.

After setting the mood and feels for the instagram feed, I then asked Yumnu to come up with posts for the carousel accordingly.

This was what she came up with:

Since the example post is a little not well presented, I decided to put all the examples in one posts and removed some examples so that it will look more well-arranged.

I've created some simple illustrations to be used and here are the posts that are done by me:

As for the Facebook posts, it was supposed to be Je Yann's task but since she was struggling with it, I decided to help her out with one of the posts and Fazal helped me out on the other because I had too much on my plate already.

This was the attempt done by Je Yann; this posts is to educate people about the type of plastic examples found in type 2 and 5 plastic.

I was feeling quite stuck so it took me quite a while to figure out how to make it less "stiff" and more "friendly". I first started off by figuring out where i want to lay the infos out. Initially i wanted to put the mascot and text at the bottom but I thought it might not be the best choice because people normally read information from top to bottom; I decided to shift it up instead and create 2 bounding boxes for each plastic types so that it is still structured and can be clearly understood.

This is the final posts I have came up with:

After creating the social media posts, I moved on to create some blank templates to be used so that the enterprise is able to use it on their own.

I get all the files I've worked on ready into 1 ai file and sent it to group, I then asked for help to check the copywriting and export the files. Jon offered to help.

Fazal also updated me that he has done the video and will help out with the collection day post. He then started to prepare the presentation slides and Jon also helped to put in the images as well.

We agreed to meet at 8 to run through the presentation together but I had internet problem and couldn't join the meeting.

FEEDBACK

Week 11
Ms Lilian said that the colour used of the Instagram posts are making the posts giving out a very serious mood. She also mentioned that the colour used could also be one of the reasons that is not bringing out the friendly and approachable mood.

Week 12
I showed Ms Lilian the new social media posts style that I have came up with and she said that it is a lot more closer to what we have proposed. She pointed out that there are still a few posts that are not able to bring out the friendly and approachable feels when we look at it as individual posts.

Week 13
This week we are allowed to work on our own; no feedback.

Week 14
This week we had our final presentation but Ms Zazila was not able to attend. Ms Lilian commented that we did a good job overall and we worked together quite well. She reminded us to ensure these files are accesible to the enterprise and we have to share our working files and slides on the drive as well.

Task 4

REFLECTIONS

Experience:
Overall, I think this module was a good learning opportunity to work with an actual enterprise and also to work together with people from other specializations.
However, I do think that for group projects like this, figuring out a direction is always the most challenging part and I had quite a hard time at the start because we all work and think very differently in some ways since we are also from different specializations as well. It was also a little tiring to keep everything consistent, I have to keep making design changes after our group member have done something that can't really bring out the mood and feel of the brand.

Observation:
Though I do understand that branding, graphic design requires the sensitivity to identify the mood and feel from the work we produce, I realised that not everybody in design has the ability to identify or solve them sometimes.
For example, the mascot Jon did initially gives out a total different feel and mood. After I told him what I think about and showed some reference images, he was able to come up with something that is closer to the art direction we've decided. Meanwhile, for Yumnu and JeYann, maybe graphic design isn't their strength, I observed that they are not able to identify and solve those design problems even after giving them feedback, finding reference and showing them.

Findings:
I realized that communication is the most important while working as a group together. Without that it is not possible to keep everything in the same direction which is the main challenge of this project, consistency.
Even though, we did not really appoint anyone as a leader in this group, Fazal and I are mostly the ones that are initiating to communicate and conduct meetings. I also realised that giving feedback that are well explained to another party also requires a lot of effort to get the message through clearly, which I appreciate Ms Lilian for being really patient and have been giving constructive feedbacks to us as well.
