INSTRUCTIONS

Week 1

In our first class, we were briefed on our final project and asked to form groups of 4-5 members. For our final project, the topic that we were given is '' Disinformation''.

At the beginning of this project, since it is a group work, I've decided to create a timeline link on padlet for everyone in the group so that we can keep track of what we are doing and when to get it done.

Made with Padlet

To make the discussion easier and clearer, I've created a padlet page so that we could attach the links about the topics that we are interested in and each of the group members is able to read more about it and have a better understanding before making a decision and coming to an actual conclusion.

After some discussions, our group have decided to choose social media hoaxes as our main topic while giving an example of the Blue Whale Challenge. We all agreed upon the idea and did some research and began to prepare for our presentation on Friday.

Brainstorming ideas on Padlet

After deciding the topic, we divided the task into a few sections and do more research on it. We then compile it together and created presentation slides to show Mr Shamsul.

Final Project Proposal

Week 2

This week we showed Mr Shamsul our script for the video. We've all agreed on having Aisyah as the VO for our project.

Final Project Script

Week 3

For this week, we are required to show and explain to sir about our storyboards. We divided to task equally and everyone in the group took one act each and drew the storyboards individually.

Besides, we had some group discussions regarding the colour schemes and visual styles as well on discord voice call.

Storyboarding and Visual Ideas

Week 4

This week, we are required to come up with an animatic to show Mr Shamsul, so each of us took up different acts that we have sketched out previously to animate.

The purpose of doing animatics is to visualise how the appearance of the compositions on screen and to let the person animating to have a better idea of how to execute out the planned motions of the animation.

Week 5

Moving on next, we then started off by dividing the task in our group. Fazal, our group leader was in charge of doing the base sketches which character design.

Base Sketches

Week 6

After Fazal is done doing all the base sketches, Jocelyn and I took over for the illustration part of this project.

Jocelyn and I divided the parts and I've illustrated all the characters in the animation, while Jocelyn illustrated the backgrounds and other assets that we need.

Illustrated Characters

After illustrating the assets, we put the files in a drive so that it'll stay more organised and easy to sort for animation later on.

Fazal then went through all the illustrated assets and make some adjustments to the colours and visuals to make it look more consistent throughout all the acts after compiling the characters with the assets and background.

Moving forward, the rest of the group members, Aisyah, Filia and Safanah the divided the acts to be animated.

Week 7

After finished animating all the acts, Fazal compiled them all together and also did sound productions for our animation.

FEEDBACKS

Week 1
Mr Shamsul said we did a good presentation and we can move on to creating out a storyboard.

Week 2
Sir suggested us to test out how long the recording would be first as the script seemed too long. He suggested cutting the script shorter.

Week 3
Sir said that the storyboard is well done and he can visualise the concept of our end product. He suggested us to think about the transitions between the different acts and we can move on to start creating our animatic.

Week 4
Mr Shamsul said that he animatic is good and we can move on to cleaning up the characters and having a more consistent visual style, along with developing backgrounds and other assets for our animation.

Week 5
Sir said that the colours in the background are a little too dark which make the characters clothes hard to see. He suggested making the backgrounds to look brighter.

Week 6
Sir said the characters that I've illustrated look good and well crafted and we can proceed.

REFLECTION

Throughout this whole project, I realised that good teamwork is such an important aspect when it comes to group projects and working in a team. Even though it is possible to do this project on our own as it is not considered a project with a huge workload, it taught me the importance of communication and the ability to divide task while keeping things consistent while working in a team since everyone has different styles and way of execution in many things. I personally think it's a  good practice and having experiences in group projects like this would definitely come in handy when it comes to working in the future as a team.

Besides, I am glad that everyone in the group is cooperative, responsible and willing to contribute. I am also grateful for Fazal as he's being such a great leader in the group, and such a supportive friend as well. It was nice working with my group members as all of us respect each other opinions and give out our suggestions in a respectful manner when it comes to having different opinions.

Since this is the first time I'm doing a group project for an animated video, I went on to read about how people that work in this field divide their jobs and ways to keep things consistent throughout the animation. I've learnt that it is important to have a plan, clarifying roles, set expectation and the most important thing is communication within the group.
